The latest gaming industry deal roundup points to continued consolidation across sportsbooks, casinos and gambling-adjacent businesses, with several of the biggest 2026 moves involving brands familiar to U.S. bettors. While West Virginia was included among the jurisdictions referenced in the source material, no West Virginia-specific operator, regulatory or access change was reported.

Among the headline transactions, Fertitta Entertainment reached a $17.6 billion deal to take Caesars Entertainment private, while Underdog agreed to a $1.3 billion acquisition by UK-based IG Group. The roundup also said MGM Resorts International reviewed a reported $18 billion takeover bid from People Inc., and that Evolution abandoned its planned acquisition of Galaxy Gaming.

Sports betting partnerships and market expansion

The source also highlighted bet365’s Sept. 8 launch in Washington, D.C., marking the operator’s 19th U.S. market. bet365 said it also became an official partner of three major pro sports teams in the city.

In league-level news, the NFL re-signed DraftKings and FanDuel as official sports betting partners and added Fanatics Betting and Gaming as a non-exclusive partner. Fanatics also became an official online casino marketing partner of the league.

Those deals matter more as signals of competition and brand positioning than as an immediate change for West Virginia players. The source did not report any change to platform availability, market access or state-specific operations in West Virginia tied to those announcements.

Casino, supplier and platform deals continue

Outside sportsbooks, VICI Properties said it is working with Caesars on a proposal for a possible NBA arena in Las Vegas. ProphetX closed a $35 million funding round after saying it received CFTC registration as a designated contract market in June.

Regional casino transactions also remained active. Churchill Downs said it plans to sell nine regional casinos individually or in small groups. Bally’s finalized a $30 million acquisition of Sam’s Town Shreveport in Louisiana from Boyd Gaming, and Illitch Gaming closed its purchase of the remaining 50% of Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, subject to regulatory approval.

The roundup also noted that Gambling.com Group rebranded as Grandstand and changed its Nasdaq ticker to GRSD, while Bragg Gaming Group completed its acquisition of Drayton International in late July.

For West Virginia readers, the main takeaway is broader industry reshaping rather than a confirmed local change. If any of these transactions later affect operator access, branding or partnerships in the state, those updates would likely come through separate company or regulatory announcements.
