Delaware North has launched its new Ember Casino brand in New Jersey, and that could soon bring a visible change for West Virginia online casino players. The company said it plans to transition its existing West Virginia Betly operation to Ember in the coming months, though it has not provided a specific date.

For players in West Virginia, the immediate takeaway is simple: a brand change appears to be on the way. The launch also shows how Delaware North is repositioning its digital gaming business as it tries to grow in regulated iGaming markets.

What Delaware North announced

Ember Casino went live in New Jersey through a partnership with Caesars Atlantic City and Caesars Interactive Entertainment. Delaware North said the platform is powered by Playtech and includes slots, live dealer table games, and Playtech’s BetBuddy responsible gaming tool.

The company is gradually replacing its Betly brand with Ember. In a company statement, Delaware North said the New Jersey debut is the first step in that transition across its current and future markets.

Delaware North president of gaming Jason Gregorec said Ember “represents the next chapter for our gaming business” and described the platform as part of a long-term growth strategy in competitive regulated markets.

Why this matters in West Virginia

The West Virginia angle is clear even though the launch happened in New Jersey. Delaware North operates Betly in West Virginia, and the company said that operation will move to the Ember brand in the coming months.

What is not yet clear is timing. The announcement did not say exactly when the West Virginia transition will happen, and it did not outline whether the change will involve only branding or broader product updates.

For players, that means this is more of a watch-and-wait development than an immediate market shift. Still, a rebrand can matter if it changes how a platform looks, how products are presented, or how responsible gaming tools are integrated.

A crowded market test case

New Jersey gives some context for Delaware North’s strategy. The state was the third-largest iGaming market in the US last year, behind Pennsylvania and Michigan, according to the source material.

Online casino players in New Jersey lost $2.91 billion to regulated platforms last year. FanDuel led the market with $655.5 million in 2025 online casino gross gaming revenue, followed by DraftKings at $569.7 million. Together, those two operators held 42% of the market.

That makes New Jersey a difficult place for any new or reworked brand to stand out. The article notes there were 28 online casinos ranked in the state, leaving players with 23 other licensed brands to choose from.

What West Virginia players should watch next

The biggest question is when Betly in West Virginia will officially become Ember. Delaware North has confirmed the transition is coming, but not the exact timetable.

Players in West Virginia should watch for updates on branding, platform features, and any changes tied to responsible gaming tools as the rollout gets closer. Until then, this is mainly a signal that Delaware North is reshaping its online casino identity. As always, if you play, do so responsibly.
