West Virginia Sportsbooks Focus On NBA Betting Odds Early Next Week

Written By Chris Imperiale on April 30, 2021

The National Basketball Association is rolling out an impressive slate of games for the beginning of next week. As always, West Virginia sportsbooks offer a wide variety of NBA markets for every game on the schedule.

As the calendar turns to May, it’s time to get serious on the hardwood. The playoffs are just around the corner, and lots of teams aren’t where they want to be.

With only about 10 games remaining in the regular season, the postseason push is already here for a lot of franchises.

Since this season includes the expanded playoffs again, more teams are still in contention. The No. 10 and No. 9 seeds will have the opportunity to earn a playoff bid in both conferences in this expanded format.

This makes the sixth seed a destination for most teams who find themselves in the thick of things. Grabbing that spot or better will allow them to avoid the initial play-in tournament.

Let’s break down the top nationally televised games next week and what the odds look like at the WV online sports betting apps.

NBA odds at WV sportsbooks

Warriors vs. Pelicans preview

There will be a playoff atmosphere in the building on Monday night when the Golden State Warriors take on the New Orleans Pelicans.

Currently, the Warriors sit in 10th, only three games ahead of the Pels.

Despite Zion Williamson performing at a very high level, New Orleans is one of the bigger disappointments this year. It is seven games under the .500 mark and has been struggling of late.

The Warriors are 31-32 and have Steph Curry to thank for this position. He’s coming off a historic run in April that was even ridiculous for his standards.

Curry averaged over 37 points per game during the month while shooting an efficient 52% from the field. That crazy figure includes more than six triples every game, with almost 47% shooting from beyond the arc.

Even with his team needing to battle to get into these playoffs, it won’t be surprising to see Curry receive some MVP votes. Right now, DraftKings Sportsbook WV shows him with the third-best odds to take home the award at +2000.

The online sportsbook has Curry tied with Giannis Antetokounmpo, behind Nikola Jokic (-670) and Joel Embiid (+450).

Oddly enough, the Warriors and Pelicans haven’t played against each other yet this season. They are scheduled to face one another three times in May.

Although the odds for this contest haven’t yet been released, bettors should expect to see a tight spread. The Warriors might be the better side, but they’ve had issues on the road, and the Pelicans are desperate.

Nuggets vs. Lakers preview

Two additional Western Conference playoff contenders will tangle later Monday night. While both the Lakers and Nuggets appear to be comfortable in advancing to the postseason, they are trending in different directions health-wise.

Denver’s Jamal Murray suffered an unfortunate ACL injury that ended his year prematurely. He is one of the young leaders on his team and was scoring over 21 points per game.

Although he’s a substantial loss, the Nuggets seem to be doing just fine. They’ve won four straight, including eight of their last 10, to solidify their No. 4 seed.

A lot of their success stems from Jokic’s dominance this season. The big man is averaging around 26 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists per contest. He also leads his team in steals with 1.4 a game.

On the other side, the Lakers are finally starting to get healthier. Forward Anthony Davis is back after being sidelined for several months.

The defending champs are still missing their overall leader in LeBron James, though.

LA isn’t in danger of dropping too far; however, it is right near the play-in cutoff. It’s just one game up on Dallas in sixth and two games ahead of Portland in seventh.

Typically, teams of this caliber don’t have to worry about their seeding, but the Lakers should. Since their stars have been out, they probably won’t hit the ground running like they did in last year’s playoffs.

This matchup is these teams’ third and final meeting this season. They’ve split the two previous games, with each team earning a sizable victory.

This is another game where the point spread is a lock to stay within a few points at WV sportsbooks.

Nets vs. Bucks preview

Following these games, NBA fans in the Mountain State can wager on some great action on Tuesday as well.

In the early game on TNT, the Milwaukee Bucks host the Brooklyn Nets. This is a matchup featuring more teams that will soon participate in the playoffs.

In fact, the top-seeded Nets just recently clinched their postseason berth. They have a 43-20 record and hold a 1.5-game lead on Philadelphia.

What’s been so impressive for Brooklyn is its ability to win without staying healthy. Kevin Durant just returned, but now guard James Harden is gone for at least the foreseeable future.

But unlike the Lakers, the Nets have plenty of breathing room at the top of the East. They showcase a 4.5-game lead over the Bucks and are eight ahead of the Knicks in fourth.

Milwaukee is likely to play its opening-round series with home-court advantage, but it would like to move up, too. Qualifying for the top spot would also guarantee that they wouldn’t face either the Sixers or Nets until the conference finals.

These two sides have met only once so far, and it did not disappoint. Brooklyn narrowly edged Milwaukee 125-123 back in January.

Obviously, this is a game where you need to check the starting lineups prior to betting. If most of the main guys are active, then WV sportsbooks are likely to keep this spread very close.
