West Virginia sportsbooks are equipped with everything you need for the start of the NCAA Tournament, including free games and pools.

With the First Four kicking things off on Thursday night, March Madness betting in WV will truly begin Friday afternoon.

The first round of the Big Dance is beginning, and fans all around the country will tune in. Since last season was cut short, college basketball bettors have been anticipating this moment for far too long.

Of course, each WV online sports betting app features plenty of odds and various markets to bet on the tournament. They also include more than enough free games and pools you can enter.

While betting figures on this year’s event should reach a new high, creating a bracket and playing among your friends is also very entertaining.

Let’s take a look at the best free options available in the Mountain State before March Madness gets underway.

DraftKings’ March Mania

DraftKings WV Sportsbook is running several pools that are completely free to join. Its largest free game is the Free $1M March Mania Survivor Pool.

Like all survivor contests, you need to select one team to advance each day there are games. There are no point spreads involved; your selection simply needs to win in order for you to move on.

You must pick a new team every day until the tournament reaches the Elite Eight. In that round, you only need to choose one team covering both days.

There are two main rules to know for this pool. You can only pick each team one time, and once you lose, you are out.

This DraftKings pool will pay out a cool $1 million in total to any lucky customers who can make it all the way to the finish.

Something important to note is that you must have your picks in prior to the start of the first game on any given day. All picks lock at that point.

The online sportsbook also has its Free $50K Bracket: Yuengling March Mania Battle Contest.

Here, you’ll compete against other bettors in picking the most accurate NCAA Tournament bracket.

If your picks acquire enough points along the way, you can win a share of $50,000.

Scoring is based on the following:

  • Round of 64 – 10 points
  • Round of 32 – 20 points
  • Sweet 16 – 40 points
  • Elite 8 – 80 points
  • Final Four – 160 points
  • Championship – 320 points

The first-place winner will take home $5,000.

BetMGM Sportsbook Bracket Challenge

BetMGM Sportsbook WV is prepped for the start of March Madness as well. The online sportsbook is offering its $2 Million Bracket Challenge that is entirely free to play.

While there is a $100,000 first prize to the top contestants who can get the most points, there is a bigger grand prize included in this pool.

If you can somehow predict the entire bracket correctly, you will win $2 million.

Unlike DraftKings’ version, the scoring is different with this one. Every game throughout the tournament counts for just one point each.

Although you don’t need to pick any of the First Four contests that tip off on Thursday, you do need to have your entry submitted before noon on Friday. The first game between No. 7 Florida and No. 10 Virginia Tech is scheduled to start at 12:15 p.m. on CBS.
