Sports betting in West Virginia came back online in late August, just in time for the 2019 college football season. It was perfect timing for a state that rallies behind WVU football.
For the last three months, sports betting handle in the Mountain State has steadily grown.
A significant reason for that growth is the Mountaineers because West Virginia loves its football.

NFL playoffs and the Super Bowl

College basketball and March Madness

Apparently, futures betting is popular on sports betting apps in West Virginia. DraftKings elaborates:
“To date, customers in West Virginia have taken advantage of our futures market. For example, we had a number of customers take the Washington Nationals to win the World Series.
“We paid out more than six figures in total to customers in West Virginia on the Nationals to win the World Series.”
