West Virginia online gambling: Tim Howard BetMGM

US men’s soccer legend Tim Howard has joined the BetMGM team as a celebrity brand ambassador just as the 2022 World Cup kicks into a higher gear.

The 43-year-old Howard will become a familiar face to West Virginia online gambling players using BetMGM.

Howard is joining the sports gaming company and putting his name on offerings throughout the World Cup, including his very own Shootout Challenge game available on the website and BetMGM app.

In a press release announcing his new position earlier this month, Howard said:

“America’s excitement for soccer is at a fever pitch, and I can’t wait to take it to the next level with BetMGM, offering new ways for fans to get engaged in the game. BetMGM is at the forefront of the sports betting industry, and I’m proud to be part of the team.”

Howard made 121 appearances as a goalie for the US men’s national team, playing in three World Cups. He set the record for most saves in a World Cup when he made 15 against Belgium in 2014.

“Tim Howard’s performance on the pitch thrilled a generation of US soccer fans,” said Matt Prevost, chief revenue officer of BetMGM. “With Tim’s support, we will bring a similar level of excitement to our customers through various games and interactive opportunities.”

West Virginia online gambling sees new games by BetMGM

Howard’s signing comes as BetMGM expands its offerings for bettors throughout the 2022 World Cup, which is ongoing in Qatar.

Among the new games available:

$250,000 Bracket Challenge. In this free-to-play contest, gamers compete for a $250,000 grand prize by correctly picking a perfect World Cup bracket. If no one hits the mark perfectly, the player with the most accurate bracket will win $50,000.

Each participant also wins $5 in free bets for each group winner selected.

Tim Howard’s Shootout Challenge. In this video-game-style contest, players have a chance to face off against Howard in a soccer shootout, with players guaranteed to win a range of prizes, including $100 in free bets from BetMGM.

New customers who sign up for a BetMGM account during the World Cup (the final is Dec. 18) can earn a risk-free bet of up to $1,000 with a similar deposit. New users who place a $10 bet on their first game earn $200 in free bets if a goal is scored in that match.

Who is Tim Howard?

The New Jersey-born Howard has been a star between the pipes since emerging on the scene in 1998. He spent time with the New York/New Jersey MetroStars in Major League Soccer, then had his rights sold to historic Manchester United in the English Premier League in 2003 for $4 million.

Howard spent 14 years in the England Premier League playing for Man U. and Everton. He returned to the states in 2016 and played for the Colorado Rapids of MLS before retiring in 2019.

He is best known for his performances for the US in the World Cup, and he is the most capped (that’s soccer language for playing in the game) men’s keeper in US team history.

As part of his BetMGM role, he will also meet with BetMGM players and MGM rewards members at various public and private events.
