This weekend marks the eighth anniversary of WVU football‘s first game as a Big 12 member, but no one should expect much resemblance to that absurd 70-63 win over Baylor when the Bears come to Morgantown this weekend.
Baylor is now built in a more defensive mold thanks to current Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule, with replacement Dave Aranda looking to continue that growth after coming over from a stint as LSU’s defensive coordinator.
The over/under for this matchup between WVU and Baylor is 53.5 across the board — lower than the point total for either team in that initial meeting.
The Mountaineers (1-1) are underdogs on their own field, getting 3 points from BetMGM Sportsbook WV and DraftKings WV Sportsbook and 2.5 points from FanDuel Sportsbook.
Baylor (1-0) enters the game coming off a 47-14 win over Kansas, though blowing out the Jayhawks does not necessarily tell bettors much about a team’s capabilities or lack thereof.
West Virginia lost 27-13 at Oklahoma State last week, but actually out-gained the Cowboys in the game. The Mountaineers were beset by penalties, committing 12 for 106 yards.
If West Virginia can clean up its act at home, the upset is not out of the question. Baylor escaped with a 17-14 win over the Mountaineers in Waco last season.

NFL Week 4 Uncertainty: Steelers and Titans
The Steelers are the team of interest for northern West Virginia and produces significant NFL betting handle for WV sports betting operators. but betting on Pittsburgh is temporarily off the table as the NFL has postponed its game with Tennessee due to multiple members of the Titans organization testing positive for COVID-19.
WV sportsbooks have pulled the lines until the NFL formally determines when the game will take place, which will be sometime later in the 2020 NFL season.
NBA Finals & NFL Week 4 betting brings out promo deals
With the NBA Finals underway, betting sites are offering more unique promotions to pique interest.
FanDuel has a pair of intriguing promotions. Anyone placing a moneyline bet on a finals game will earn double the winnings if the last shot of the game is a 3-pointer. Be aware, however, that you receive those doubled winnings as site credit, but you still may deem it worth a shot in a series where at least one game seems bound to go down to the wire.
FanDuel’s Same Game Parlay promo applies to all finals games as well as NFL games. You bet on a three-leg promo — all within the same game — and if it doesn’t land, you get your money back up to $10.
BetMGM West Virginia Sportsbook has a finals-related offer for new bettors. If your first bet is on the moneyline of a finals game, you win $100 if your team wins and hits just one 3-pointer in the game.
DraftKings is continuing to run its newcomer promotion, which rewards $100 for any winning $1 bet. A matching bonus bet bonus for referring a friend to the site is new this week. You’ll receive a bonus matching bet between $25-$100 if the person you refer makes an initial deposit of $25-100.
